ANIMALS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
 |
02/09/08: This is Phoenix. He is a male, red-orange tabby born around Valentine's Day last year.
Phoenix and his brother Elvis (who was recently adopted), were bottle-fed orphan babies.
He loves having his belly kissed.
The vets have told us that Phoenix has double hip dysplasia and will need sugeries to replace both hip joins. He also has a torn rotator cuff that will need a third surgery.
The estimated cost for this surgery is $1000.00 - $1500.00.
If you would like to make a donation to help with the cost of Phoenix's surgery, please contact us or you can make a donation online now by clicking here »
Every dollar helps!!!

08/01/07: Rudy is now on our special needs cats list. He has stomatitis which is lesions in the mouth and very irritated ulcers on his gums. It can be managed with steroid shots every few months and antibiotics. |

06/25/07: Sam has a mass in his trach. At noon the Vets will be going into his tracheal tube to see if this is a fixable situation. Sam is struggling to breathe and is very uncomfortable. If it is fixable they will do it. I have faith in Dr Hudson. If its not fixable, Sam will be PTS so he will no longer be in pain and discomfort. So please pray or think positive thoughts for this sweet baby. This will set Treasured Friends back about $500 regardless of the outcome so also be thinking of any fundraising we can do. If you are able to help, donations would be much appreciated. This is what sets us apart from the rest. We go to any lengths to try and help these babies who so deserve someone to love them and give them the dignity they deserve.
UPDATE: All 3 Vets were in operating room because, of course, TF gave them a whole new ballgame.
The conferring brought about this:
He has a tracheal tube to breathe because he could not breathe before. His airways are so swollen and no air was getting through. Sam is not out of the woods as yet. He will be staying at the Vet clinic so they can watch him and to avoid any germs getting to him. The trach tube will buy him some time so hopefully the steroids will kick in and hopefully they will be able to remove the breathing tube in few days. Hopefully he will start to breathe on his own and his airways will become less swollen. But they have no idea what caused it or for sure if they can cure it. So please continue positive thoughts and prayers for no suffering for this sweet baby. I am going to visit him when he awakens from anaesthesia at 4:00pm today. |

09/20/2007 - CeCe Needs Help
Cece came to animal control with 50 other animals, all left behind. Treasured Friends rescued 2 of the animals about to the euthanized. CeCe has a broken jaw that is requiring a veterinary that specializes in dental reconstruction. We have been advised that surgery needs to be done on her mouth to remove a a bone from one side of her jaw in order to reconstruct the other, damaged side of her jaw.
This operation will cost approximately $2000.00.
Treasured Friends and CeCe need any and all help to support this lil girl to give her the life she so wants and deserves. |

09/23/07 - FIONA
Fiona is in serious condition. I was at the Vet with her most of Saturday morning again. After many tests over the weeks, much clean up and expensive special diets, Fiona weighs 8 lbs and she should weigh 16-20 lbs. She has not been able to hold her food down for months and we have spent a great deal of money on yest after test. It is now at she could have Addisons disease or she coyuld have this condition requiring surgery to fix her spleen, Either way she is slowly dying and wasting away while we are despertely trying to find the problem and a solution. So the money part is only one thing, she is really in danger so please hold positive images of a whole, healthy girl weighing more than 8 lbs abd able to hold food in her body and please pray for this really sweet girl also.
this year we have been hit really hard with special needs. our VET bill at NORTH Dallas Vet Hospital is $2300!!! Fiona is going to require more still if she does not die while we are trying. |
The sponsorship program is geared to help us with all expenses but especially medically challenged cases.
We can only remain no kill with financial donations to help with medical bills. We are constantly battling some disease, virus, fungus or respiratory. It is very costly especially when the animal must go to the vet frequently and stay overnight often. Some of our animals have cost hundreds of dollars in vet bills. This is an area we need your support.
You can set up the sponsorship program with us by a donation towards these bills with a check payable directly to the veterinarian or clinic or to Treasured Friends for a specific pet you would like to sponsor until that pet is adopted.
We also accept online donations through PayPal. We are 501(c)(3) and will provide you with a tax receipt for your donation.
Any of the pets on our website or little ones not yet on our website and up for adoption may be sponsored.
