MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to responsibly re-home unwanted animals with a precise pre-adoption program after social or health rehabilitation of the companion animal. We also strive to decrease the number of animals being born with our policy of no adoption until spay/neutered.

We rescue all breed dogs, cats from animal control, owner surrenders and feral cats. At this time we do not have a shelter so all our animals are in foster care. All money that is donated or from adoption fees are applied towards the animals. There is no salary to pay as we are all volunteers. We test all our animals for heartworm in dogs, Aids/Leukemia in cats. We immunize and sterilize all the animals. We stress keeping cats indoors only and dogs indoor/outdoor, not chained up. We are one of the few rescue organizations who have made it mandatory to spay/neuter ALL animals prior to adoption. Our animals are on Advantage and Revolution flea control to make certain as possible they go to their new home flea free and hopefully ear mite free. All animals are dewormed. We try to help those who will be euthanized first because it is not their fault they end up on death row.

Secondarily we try to educate pet owners to deal with any problems that may arise in conjunction with being a pet owner.

Our immediate future goal is to have a Van to transport animals to and from on site adoptions and to transport ferals in traps.

Treasured Friends realizes the importance of spay/neutering stray animals to keep the overpopulation problem down to a minimum. We are developing a program to spay/neuter strays/ferals and re-releasing those we cannot adopt out or who we have no room for.

Our goal is to help the Dallas/Ft Worth community by trapping feral cats who are not only multiplying more rapidly than we can spay/neuter but also have no quality of life without being properly fed and protected from the elements. Treasured Friends is working on funding for this program as well.
